Staff
RECEPTIONISTS
We have wonderful receptionists whose morning responsibilities
include admitting all the surgery patients, those coming in for
grooming, boarding, and examinations. In the afternoon, they ensure
all our day patients make it home with their medications, special
diets, home care instructions, and personal belongings.
All day long they schedule appointments, answer questions, or
direct your call to a technician or veterinarian if needed.

| Julie
joined our hospital
in March of 1999 with several years of experience as a veterinary
receptionist and animal care giver. Julie's favorite aspect
of the job is getting to know all the wonderful animals that walk,
slither, and hop through the door. She has a full house at
home with her husband, son, 4 cats (Don Juan, Sir Lancelot, Queen
Guinevere, and Lady Isabella), and 2 dogs (Radar and Dutchess).
Her free moments are spent gardening, shopping, remodeling her house,
and sleeping to recover! |
| Kathy
began at the
hospital in August of 1999. Kathy's favorite part of her job
is meeting all the adorable puppies and kittens that come through
the door. She grew up in Rural Retreat and came to the New
River Valley in 1984 to attend Radford University. She now
lives in Childress with her husband, a dairy farmer, their dog Zack,
7 cats, and 70 Holstein cattle!!! Kathy enjoys traveling,
reading, gardening, and making dog biscuits (yummm!) |
| Stephanie
has been with
us since December 2001. She is a graduate of Pulaski High School
and is currently attending Radford University, working toward her
Nursing degree. She lives in Dublin with her cat and dog. |
Technicians
Dublin Animal Hospital is fortunate to have two talented, experienced
licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's) on our staff. They
are responsible for nursing care, laboratory tests, anesthesia,
surgical assistance, anesthesia recovery, quality control, equipment
maintenance, radiology, client education, and everything else
that goes on daily in the hospital.
|
| Tereba
(or Ms
Kitty) has been with Dublin Animal Hospital since 1983. Although
cats have a special place in her heart, she enjoys working with
dogs, reptiles, avian and pocket pets also. What little time she
has outside of the hospital, she fills with community service work
of the Fairlawn-Radford Ruritan Club, and with collecting all things
cat related. Her family here consists of 3 cats: Orieo, Rosie, and
Charlie. |
|
Scyleanea
is a native
of the New River Valley and is a recent graduate of Blue Ridge
Community College’s Animal Technology program. She lives in Dublin
with her husband Ernie.
|
Assistants
Dublin Animal Hospital has several wonderful assistants whose
responsibilities include assisting the vets in the exam rooms
and during treatments, setting up laboratory tests, monitoring
patient well being, making sure daily medications are given, and
filling prescriptions.

same Julie who does such a great job of being an receptionist, we
let her shine as an assistant too. |

the Shiloh area of Pulaski County with her husband and children.
Julie’s dedication and hard work show in everything she does. |
Animal Caretakers
Our animal caretakers all share the responsibility of ensuring
your pet has a wonderful stay when they board at our hospital.
They work together to keep all animals in the hospital and kennel
clean, comfortable, and happy. If this means daily romps, extra
special attention, Hardees breakfast biscuits , or lambskin
cuddle blankets, they will spend the extra hour to make sure its
done.
|
| Craig
used to work
for us at the old location and just recently became a full time
employee at our new facility. Everyone appreciates Craig’s positive
attitude, from clients to patients to the rest of the staff. |

Veterinarians
Our Doctors are all dedicated professionals who work hard to make
sure your pet(s) have the finest care possible. Their goal is
to have your animals be “clients for life” and allow them to live
long, healthy lives through regular checkups, vaccinations and
dental care. Our doctors’ dedication doesn’t stop at the end of
the day. Each of them rotates through Emergency Call and one of
them is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.)

| Dr.
Mary May was
hired by Dr. Stanley in October 1990, and purchased the practice
when he retired in January 1996. She is a graduate of Virginia-Maryland
Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Her special interests are
avian, reptile and exotic pet medicine and surgery. She is a member
of the Virginia Academy of Veterinary Medicine, the American Veterinary
Medicine Association, The Virginia Veterinary Medicine Association
and the local Southwest Virginia Veterinary Medicine Association.
She is also a member of the American Animal Hospital Association,
the Rare Breeds Conservancy, Pulaski Chamber of Commerce and Pulaski
Rotary Club. When not at work, she spends much of her time with
her husband and 2 children camping, traveling and gardening. Her
long-term goals are to expand the new hospital into a 24 hour critical
care facility and train a yoke of oxen (no kidding). |
| Dr.
Nancy Currin
joined Dublin Animal Hospital in October of 1999 as another permanent
part-time associate veterinarian! She is another Virginia-Maryland
College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. Dr. Currin lives
with her husband John (also a veterinarian) and 2 children in Blacksburg.
She also has two dogs. |
|
Dr
Lynda Oleksuk joined
Dublin Animal Hospital in 2001. She trains agility dogs and lives
with her husband in Blacksburg.
|
|
|
| Melissa
has been with us since Spring 1995. Melissas job is to keep
the business side of our hospital running smoothly. She does our
ordering, book-keeping, staff scheduling, and is responsible for
inspiration, trouble-shooting and paperwork, paperwork, paperwork!
Although we keep her busy in the office, Melissa says she
enjoys the interaction with pets and their people. Melissa feels
her greatest rewards come when she is able to add a little personal
touch to a clients visit because she knows them, and knows
what would please them. When not at work, Melissa and her husband
enjoy football, racing and shopping (Melissa does, anyway). |

Phyllis
- has been involved in pet grooming since 1984 and with Dublin
Animal Hospital since 1990. She has experience in all breeds
of dogs, and enjoys working with cats also. She prefers to talk
to each owner before she begins trimming or grooming their pet
to make sure she understands their expectations, and to make sure
the pets coat is in a condition that makes the desired trim
possible. If you have questions about shampoos, crème rinses or
coat conditioners, Phyllis is the one to ask. Outside of work
she enjoys working with her many farm animals, camping, and gardening.
